Meet Brantley and Jennifer Mays
Brantley and Jennifer own Parkwood Property Inspections, LLC. We provide home inspection services for the triad area of North Carolina and surrounds.
About Brantley
Hi, my name is Brantley. I was born in Greensboro, North Carolina, and grew up in High Point. I’ve been around construction my entire life. My grandfather, Clayton, spent his career in High Point as an architect and my father, Greg, owns a painting company that still operates here in the triad.
After high school I enlisted in the U.S. Navy. I spent some time living aboard the USS Essex, in and around Japan and then i was stationed in Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii. Jennifer and I got married in 2006, and shortly after I deployed to the middle east and served in Operation Iraqi Freedom. At the end of my military service, I returned to the triad. I went to work full time for my father during the day and went to college full time at night. I used my GI Bill to attended NC A&T State University, where I majored in Construction Management, graduating magna cum laude.
After graduation, I went to work for a global construction and engineering firm, based out of Kansas City. I was living the American Dream. My job was project based, so we had go where the work was. This required my family to move to around a lot. I’ve been involved in the construction of a large wind turbine, and a substation project in the southwest U.S. In South Africa, I worked on a project creating the largest power plant in the southern hemisphere. I’ve also done defense projects in Eastern Europe before transitioning back into the energy sector to build solar fields in the United States.
The most important thing in my life is my family. Project based jobs generally require very long and odd hours. This meant I wasn’t home very much. Missing so much of my children’s lives motivated me to switch gears and introduce some stability into our lifestyle. We moved back to High Point, and Jennifer and I started our home inspection business. I’m living a more meaningful life with more time available to watch my children grow and being able to stay involved with the community where I work.
I enjoy meeting clients, showing them around their new homes, and answering any questions they may have.
About Jennifer
Hi, I’m Jennifer Mays. I was born and raised in High Point, NC. I attended Southwest High School prior to graduating from N.C. State University, where I double majored in Microbiology and Animal Science. I went to work for Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center after graduation. Brantley and I were married in 2006 while he was in the U.S. Navy. Brant’s corporate career moved us around quite frequently, and while I was able to work remotely for some time, I ultimately resigned my position with Wake in 2013 to be a full time mother to our two wonderful children.
The frequent moving has given me the travel bug. Exploring the world is one of my favorite things and I am fortunate and thankful for the opportunities I’ve had to experience so much.
This bio wouldn’t be complete if I didn’t mention that playing tennis is a pretty serious hobby of mine; I try to play a few times per week. I am also passionate about reading and love to talk about books. Finding out what you are reading is why I doubt I will ever finish everything on my “to read” list.
Friends would say that I am true to my word. If I say I am going to do something, I will. This means sometimes wild hair ideas come to fruition “just because I said I would.” Completing the entire BeachBody Insanity program or swinging off the gorge in Zimbabwe at Victoria Falls comes to mind.
Being a home inspector is a career shift for me, but it fits quite well. When you contact Parkwood for a home inspection, you will probably be communicating with me. Scheduling, planning, and organization are some of my strengths and I enjoy the work. I also love learning. With this job, you see things that surprise you daily. You can see some of these surprises when you follow our Facebook, Instagram, or Google+ pages.
We Look Forward to Working With You!
